|
|
I have gotten a few messages lately in our church's guestbook that have a weird combination of letters and numbers, almost like an encryption key. Is this some new form of spam? And should I delete them?
Example:
o-2745b5ecb0a2d2256a97e9eeb08d3e44-o Very good work, nice webpage.
Hartman Olden (knox536@msn.com)
All have the same city listed (Chicago, IL) and other than the number/letter combo the message is the same. |

Hi huntingcreek,
It's hard to say whether these messages are spam or not, though it is possible. Our new filter and screening system is able to remove most spam, but this is something that it wouldn't catch since there is nothing offensive in the message and for all intents and purposes it just looks like a compliment of your website. If you do not want these messages in your guestbook you can delete them. You can do that by logging into your webmaster page and clicking the link to edit your guestbook. On the bottom portion of the page you will find all the guestbook entries. Next to each entry is an "Edit" and a "Delete" button. If you want to delete the message, click the "Delete" button. If you just want to remove the row of numbers and letters, you can click the "Edit" button and remove them.
Please let us know if you continue to receive these messages or if you have any other questions.
In His Service,
Kurt Steinbrueck
