Hi Everyone,

As a part of Give Thanks Month, we are creating a way for OCC web administrators to find and share Thanksgiving resources that can be used for free on their websites.

Updating your site with fresh content on a regular basis is the most important factor in getting visitors to return on a regular basis. This will make it easy for you to add cool new videos, pics, games, and more to your site. Hopefully it will also cause you visitors to stop and think about all they have to be thankful for in this holiday season.

Here are some games for you to play for your Thanksgiving party:
Turkey Escape
This is played just like freeze tag only the kids are going to be in the sacks while they are trying to get away. They are racing to get away from the hunter. The hunter, the one who is explaining the game or someone picked, tries to freeze the turkeys. The turkeys are trying to hop away from the hunter. Unfrozen turkeys can thaw out frozen turkeys. Hunters cannot run, but they have to squat walk as if they are sneaking up on the turkey. Depending on the age group, the hunter may just walk in order to try to reach the turkeys.
Another variation of this game could be to have them use the sacks as a relay race. Whichever is easiest.

Turkey Pumpkin Roll
You need two large pumpkins (we used duct tape balls). The racers, line up on the starting line with the pumpkins (balls) on the floor. The racers will get on their knees with their hands behind their backs in front of their “pumpkin.” On the signal, the racers will use their noses to roll the pumpkins to the finish line – like a turkey would look if he were doing it. Younger players may want to use their hands instead of their noses. If you want to play this as teams, make it a relay race.

Turkey Skat Hunt
The kids look into the samples of Turkey poop (crushed up candy bars/cereal/food) and try to guess what the turkeys have eaten. They can smell and see what is in the cup, but NO TASTING or touching!

Pin the Hat on the Turkey
Just like pin the tail on the donkey only it is using turkeys and hats. Have all players stand in a line. Give the first one in line a hat for the turkey then blindfold. Turn them a few times. Point them in the direction of where the turkey is and have them try to stick the hat on the turkey. Repeat with the next one in line until everyone has gone.

Instead of saying "warmer...cooler" you gobble?
One player is the hunter and the others are helpers. The hunter leaves
the room. The helpers hide a small toy turkey (the squirrel who wants to be a turkey). The hunter returns with a mission to find the turkey. Helpers give clues by "gobbling" like turkeys. If the hunter is not close, the helpers gobble very quietly. As the hunter gets closer, the helpers gobble more and more loudly until Mr. Turkey is found!
