Hello OurChurch.Com webmasters,

Summer is here, at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere. For many summer is a time of year often associated with missions. Vacation Bible schools often raise money for missionaries, youth groups do summer missions projects, and many adults travel overseas for short-term missions trips in the summer.

So, we thought it would be a good time to do a Missions Month focus at OurChurch.Com. The biggest news of Missions Month was the launch of our Missions Mashup, which we'll talk about in a minute. Beyond that we have some things going on that we hope can help those of you who are missionaries as well as those who support missionaries individually or through your church.

OurChurch.Com has launched a new “Missions Mashup” page, which combines information about Christian missions and missionaries from around the world in several useful tools. The page has been created to help people find and learn about Christian missionaries as well as to encourage missionaries to blog and share information with other missionaries.

One of the features of the Missions Mashup is a customized Google map that includes “pushpins” showing the locations of missionaries. Clicking on each pushpin reveals the name of the missionaries, their location, and a link to their website and blog. Another feature is the Missions Feed, which combines blog articles from all the missionaries included in the Missions Mashup.

If you're interested in missions, check out the Missions Mashup at:

If you’re a missionary, you can add your info to the Missions Mashup by completing a short form.

Who knows better how the Internet can help missionaries than missionaries who are already using the Internet, right? So, this month we are looking for missionaries to serve as guest bloggers on OCC's Christian Web Trends Blog. If you're a missionary and would like to share with our readers how the Internet has impacted your ministry, please reply and let us know ASAP.

John Fraser, former missionary to Hungary was our first guest blogger, writing "Blogs for Missions," the story of how he used blogs to stay in touch with family, friends, and supporters. Read his article at:

We spent years trying to convince Christian organizations that a website was a great tool for communication. We've finally reached the point where most organizations realize the need for a website. The next hurdle has be convincing Christian churches, schools, ministries, and businesses that if you want people to get to your website you've got to go where the people are. And most people are using search engines.

Getting your website to rank at the top of the search results for relevant search phrases is the most cost effective way to bring new people to your website. OurChurch.Com can help you do that with a broad array of search registration and optimization services. Request a free phone consultation so we can help you decide the services that are the right fit for your organization.

We've added another 5 new NE1 templates for you to use with your website, including a Summer/Beach template and a 4th of July template. See the templates in our forums:

Thanks for hosting your website at OurChurch.Com. Post your comments and questions concerning this newsletter here in our forums.

Using NE1's blog module (available in Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Domain Hosting Packages) is a great way for missionaries to quickly post updates for family, friends, and supporters to read.

WEBSITE SPOTLIGHT: Hearts Without Borders -
Hearts Without Borders is a Non Profit Mission Organization whose sole purpose is to reach out to the poor outside of our borders. Currently serving on the outskirts of Juarez, Mexico, the ministry is building and repairing homes and churches, funding two feeding shelters, assisting the local church in various outreaches and meeting basic needs as they arise. Annette Perkins of Hearts Without Borders retained OurChurch.Com to develop this Custom CMS Express site. Annette reports the response has been encouraging and support for the ministry is building. She admits to having very little Internet experience yet she is able to add and edit pages on her own thanks to the intuitive editing tools available within the CMS (Content Management System).
