One of the most popular features of the Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze (PGSB) accounts is email. But if you have one of these accounts a valuable feature could actually be consuming tens or even hundreds of megabytes of disk space.
Every PGSB account has a "default address" setting, which tells the server what to do with email sent to email addresses with your domain name which you haven't set up. For example, if your domain is MyChurch.com and email is sent to admin@MyChurch.Com but you never set up an email account for admin@MyChurch.com, the server looks at the default address setting to determine what to do with that email.
Prevously we set-up all PGSB accounts with a catch-all account of cpanelUsername@yourDomainName.com and we set the "default address" setting to deliver email there. This is a common set-up. However, the problem with that is if the cpanelUsername@yourDomainName.com email account is never checked, spam accumulates in that account. So, some of you have 10s or even 100s of MB of spam in this default account. This is consuming valuable space in your account and consuming valuable server resources as it gets backed up every night.
If you are not using/checking your default cpanelUsername@yourDomainName.com email account, please contact the helpdesk and let us know so we can delete it. We will also set the "default account" setting to :blackhole: which means any email sent to an email address you have not specifically set up will be deleted.
Of course, if you prefer you can clear out the cpanelUsername@yourDomainName.com email account yourself. And you can change the "default account" in your cPanel control panel. But we're happy to do it for you.
